Abstract

Introduction to Genetics-I delves into the fundamental units of heredity: chromosomes, genes, and DNA. Chromosomes are structures within cells that carry genetic information in the form of genes, which are specific sequences of DNA. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule that encodes the instructions for the development, functioning, and reproduction of all living organisms. The interplay between these elements determines the inheritance of traits from one generation to the next. Understanding the structure and function of chromosomes, the role of genes, and the molecular composition of DNA is crucial for grasping the principles of genetics, which are foundational to biology and medicine.
