Preface

Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry is an important subject in pharmaceutical education, providing fundamental knowledge of pharmaceutical analysis, chemical principles, analytical techniques, and inorganic pharmaceutical compounds. These concepts are essential for understanding drug quality, purity, safety, and efficacy.

This textbook, “Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry (BP106T),” has been prepared according to the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) syllabus and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. It aims to provide students with a systematic understanding of the fundamental principles and applications of pharmaceutical inorganic and analytical chemistry.

The book is organized into five units covering pharmaceutical analysis, errors and limit tests; acid–base chemistry, buffer systems, isotonicity, and physiological electrolytes; acid–base, non-aqueous, precipitation, complexometric, and redox titrations; gastrointestinal agents; and miscellaneous pharmaceutical compounds, including expectorants, emetics, haematinics, poisons, and antidotes.

The content is presented in a clear and structured manner to facilitate learning and understanding of important concepts. It is intended to help students develop a strong theoretical foundation and understand the relevance of chemical analysis in pharmaceutical sciences and quality control.

This textbook will be a useful resource for undergraduate pharmacy students, teachers, and learners preparing for academic examinations. We sincerely hope that it supports effective teaching and learning and encourages students to develop the knowledge and skills required for further studies and professional practice in pharmacy.
