Abstract
The Nervous System-II delves into the intricate processes that enable nerve cells to communicate and transmit signals. Central to this is the action potential, a rapid change in membrane potential that propagates along the nerve fiber, leading to the generation of a nerve impulse. This impulse is a wave of electrical activity that travels through neurons, enabling them to relay information across the nervous system. Receptors play a crucial role in detecting stimuli, which then trigger nerve impulses. These signals are transmitted across synapses, the junctions between neurons, where neurotransmitters facilitate the communication between neurons by binding to specific receptors, ultimately influencing various physiological responses and behaviors. This complex interplay of electrical and chemical signals underpins the functionality of the nervous system, contributing to everything from sensory perception to motor control.
